Kruno Kardov's lecture at Department of Sociology, University of Zadar
On Tuesday, 29 May 2007 at Department of Sociology, University of Zadar, Kruno Kardov (Department of Sociology,
Faculty of Philosophy, Zagreb) held a lecture titled "Is the past gone? Societal dimensions of war in
Croatian society". The lecture was based on 2006 survey about attitudes of Croatian citizens on war victims,
questions of responsibility for the war atrocities and legal prosecution of war crimes.
Rector's Award to the Head of the Sociology Department, University of Zadar
Associate Professor Inga Tomić-Koludrović, Head of the Department of Sociology, University of Zadar has received
Rector´s Award of that university, for her efforts and successes in developing the department during the past year. The
awarding ceremony took place at Dies Academicus of the University of Zadar, on March 23rd, 2007.
Professor Tomić-Koludrović´s award coincides with the 30th anniversary of the second oldest department of sociology in
the country, which she has helped reorganize and grow in the past year. The award therefore announces a bright future
not only for the department but also for an increased public presence of Croatian sociology in various regions of the
country. It turns public attention to the fact that the development of regional academic centres with specific research
agendas, such as the one in Zadar, enhances the quality and professionalism of the entire field.
The book "Social Capital and Governance. Old and New Memebrs of the
EU in Comparison" edited by Frane Adam has been published
Lit Verlag published the book "Social Capital and Governance. Old and
New Memebrs of the EU in Comparison" edited by Frane Adam and with a
Preface by Thomas Luckmann. Among other two members of the Croatian
Sociological Associations contributed to the book, Gojko Bežovan and

A contribution on the Croatian society in an international publication

A collection entitled 'La questione adriatica e l'allargamento dell'Unione europea' ('Adriatic Issue and the
Enlargement of the European Union'), has just been issued by Franco Angeli publishing house from Milan. The collection
has been edited by Franco Botta, Italo Garzia and Pascale Guaragnella (all from University of Bari). Among other
essays, the book also contains a contribution on the Croatian society, entitled "Da societa in transizione a
soiceta mista: la Croazia tra due modernizzazioni" ("From Transitional to Mixed Society: Croatia Between Two
Modernizations") (pp.127-161), written in co-authorship by Inga Tomić-Koludrović and Mirko Petrić (both
from Department of Sociology, University of Zadar).

Export. Socioeconomic Anatomy of Croatian Export Deficit, edited by Drago Čengić. Contributors to the book

Participation of CSA members at ISORECEA conference
Regular bi-annual ISORECEA Conference (International Study of Religion in Central and Eastern Europe Association) was held in Budapest/Leanyfalu, Hungary, December 14th - 17th, 2006. Croatian sociologists Dinka Marinović Jerolimov, Goran, Goldberger and Siniša Zrinščak participated and presented papers. During the Conference a new book was promoted, edited by Irena Borowik and published in honor to Eileen Barker, LSE Professor Emeritus and Honorary President of the ISORECEA. Among 28 contributions in the book there are papers by Siniša Zrinščak, Dinka Marinović Jerolimov and Ankica Marinović Bobinac. The ISORECEA General Assembly was also held which elected Siniša Zrinščak as a President, and Dinka Marinović Jerolimov as a Treasurer.

Participation of Siniša Zrinščak and Ognjen Čaldarović at World Congress on Sociology in Durban
On XVI World Congress on Sociology, held in Durban, South Africa, July 23rd -29th, 2006, the Croatian Sociological Association was presented by Siniša Zrinščak and Ognjen Čaldarović. Among other things, the Croatian Sociological Association was together with the Polish and Bulgarian Sociological Associations organizer of the special session titled: Central Europe: New Comers or New Periphery? Siniša Zrinščak was also elected as Vice-President of the ISA RC22 on Sociology of Religion for the period 2006-2010.
